VIDEO SETTINGS

The best looking videos are just that...and a little care with how you pull off capturing the best peformance of you might get a little technical.

COMPOSITION

It is highly advisable to have a helper to set up your camera if you use the rear camera on your phone.  Typically your rear camera is the best, but you might find that you played your best take, only to discover your feet were the only things showing in the frame--I know a fella that happened to once.

We actually want you to REDUCE the resolution of your camera, to 720p (1280x720) at 30frames per second. If that option is unavailable, 1080p will be fine as well, don't panic and thank you for trying.  ;)

AND EITHER PORTRAIT OR LANDSCAPE

(landscape is preferred for GreenScreen)

In BOTH portrait or landscape mode,

make sure you don’t cut your head off with the camera angle

frame your capture to just below the tailpiece of your cello.

(With landscape, the left and right edges of your image don’t HAVE to be green, they can be easily cropped).

We will work with whatever footage you can give us.

In a perfect world...

MODIFY THE VIDEO SETTINGS ON YOUR PERSONAL DEVICE :

iPhone:

Use front camera so that you can view yourself while you play

Go to Settings→Camera→Record Video→720p at 30fps

UNCHECK "Mirror Front Camera", “Show PAL Formats”, and “Auto Low Light FPS”.

ANDROID

Use front camera so that you can view yourself while you play

In Camera Settings→Unselect ‘Save selfies as previewed’ (to prevent mirror-image on recorded video)

Go to Shooting Methods→Turn on Voice Commands

Go to Advanced Recording Options→Select ‘Reduce file size’

While in video mode→Select ratio of 9:16→Select FHD 30

OTHER PHONES

Cellists, looking for help on this if you have a different kind of phone with different instructions.  Please provide them and we will update here.

AUDIO SEPARATELY?

Some of you request to send your audio in separately.

If you are one of those people, you likely know what this means.

48k, 24bit WAV or MP3

Those are the best settings to match with the project files.

... it would be amazing if all your files came in:

THE SAME video quality,

CROPPED PERFECTLY for your performance

and NAMED as such:

[PART# FIRST LAST].mp4

like

4 Grimm Reaper.mp4

3 Hermun Munster.mp4

1 Candyman Candyman.mp4

instructions below...

DETAILS

the best

RENAMING YOUR FILE:

iPhone:

in Camera Roll→open your video

Share→Save to Files

At the bottom of your screen you will see your current file name

Tap that and rename your file.

Your video is now in Files (not camera roll), but you can upload to the uploader from there, or share to your computer first

ANDROID:

isn't as standardized as iphone so you might have to work a bit harder.

this has worked for some.

in Files→select the three parallel lines on the left→then select Videos

long press the thumbnail for your video performance until a check appears

tap the three little dots on the right→select Rename
